IPL

I just want to say how good Karen Bowen’s IPL treatments have been for slowing hair growth and clearing up the ingrown hairs around my bikini line. I was waxing for many years and I think this caused me a big problem with ingrown hairs — I had lots of them. I’ve been a farmer for 30 years, and out in all weathers day after day. Even though I’ve always used the appropriate protective creams and clothing, I noticed that the skin on my nose was becoming more and more tender and also redder by the day. Eventually, I consulted my GP and underwent two procedures that involved scraping the dead skin off my nose. This was meant to relieve the tenderness, but it didn’t work. My nose became ever more tender as time went by — even after slight knocks the skin would crack open and bleed. In desperation I consulted another GP, who told me the only other procedure he could suggest was skin grafting. I discussed this option with my friend and she suggested that I first try 'dermal therapy'. That’s when I made an appointment with Karen Bowen, despite the fact that her clinic is a six-hour drive from where I live.

During my first appointment with Karen, she ‘scanned’ the skin on my nose and, because of the GP's recommendation of skin-grafting, discussed the resulting images with her clinic doctor. Between them they decided that IPL would be the best option for me: it would not only strengthen the skin but also decrease the redness. Next, Karen explained in detail what exposure to the elements had done to my skin and how the IPL procedure would work. Following my first IPL treatment, and the application of Danné products afterwards, I noticed that the skin on my nose calmed down considerably. It was less shiny and felt less tender. I realised what a big difference there was when my daughter commented on how much better my nose looked. After a second IPL treatment and continued usage of the Danné products, the effect was very noticeable.

Since I began IPL treatments with Karen, the skin has not broken open and bled; nor is it sore to the touch and the redness is now dramatically reduced. I recently completed my third IPL treatment, with only one more to go, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome!  Thank you so much, Karen.

Medilift

Having looked at a recent photo of myself, I realised it was time to do something about my face – I looked terrible, so old, with lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. I started browsing the internet, looking for the best facials in Perth. Karen Bowen’s advertisement came up and I decided to give her a call. What a pleasant surprise! Karen and her staff are fantastic: so helpful and friendly.

Karen explained what they could do to help me look better. I decided to have 10 Medilift treatments, to work my facial muscles and improve skin tone. The treatments felt a bit weird at the beginning but after a while I found them quite relaxing.

After the fourth Medilift treatment my daughter noticed a change in my face – she thought it looked better toned and with clearer skin. When my husband noticed a change after the eighth treatment I was over the moon; he never took any notice of my wrinkles before! He said I looked great. Skin peels

My name is Karen. I’m 38 and never had any problems with my skin until seven years ago, when I developed cystic acne. It started me on a long and expensive journey to get help. I went to doctors and a nutritionist, then several beauty clinics. Some of them really tried but most had no idea…they took my money anyway.

Although in my mind and my body I got to a place where I was happy my skin did not improve. I stopped going out socially, and if I had to drop the kids at school I would cover my face and neck with my hair to hide my skin; I never wore my hair up anymore. As my skin got worse, my doctor said the cysts had to be cut out. So now I had scarring as well as acne! Finally, when I felt I had really had enough, a friend who had told me about Karen Bowen more than once persuaded me to make an appointment with her.

On my first visit to Karen, she told me exactly what was going on with my skin and what it would take to fix it. I had my first treatment with her a week later and all was well. However, after the second treatment I panicked, my skin went haywire and I began thinking, ‘More money with no result.’ Luckily, Karen called me in to remind me that it would take time for things to improve and to be patient.

By the next visit my skin was starting to look great, and after the third treatment my life really changed for the better. I know not everyone is the same, but after that treatment my skin improved to the point where I no longer needed to hide behind my hair. I cut it instead, and now wear it back and love it.

I’m the girl who met the right person to help with her skin problems. I just wish I’d found Karen Bowen at the beginning of my journey…there would have been a lot less tears. This is to say thank you to Karen for giving me back my smile as well as my face.
