FACIAL PEELS PERTH

Frequently asked questions

What do peels actually achieve?

Facial peels in Perth rejuvenate the complexion by helping reduce the signs of ageing, reducing the size of open pores and promoting collagen formation, which tightens the skin. They are also very effective in treating skin pigmentation and as an acne treatment in Perth, Western Australia (see testimonial below).

How will I know which peel is right for me?

Karen Bowen uses many different types of peels. And, with more than 20 years' experience in skin care, she is best placed to decide which of them is right for you. When you contact the clinic we will book your consultation. During that consultation your skin will be examined using Beau Visage, a technology that allows us to 'see' 2 mm beneath the surface of skin by generating images of blood flow, pigmentation and sun damage. Karen can then determine which peel will best suit you.

How long will the results last ?

Like most things in life, your skin requires regular maintenance to feel good and look great. How long the results of a peel last will depend on how well you care for your skin afterwards — including limiting your exposure to the sun.

Does having a peel hurt?

No. Depending on the type of peel you have you may feel a hot, stinging sensation during the treatment. However, it is quite bearable, no anaesthetic is required and the sensation abates in about 10 minutes.

How will my skin look afterwards?

Immediately after the peel your skin will look flushed or tanned and will feel tight, as though you have sunburn. Karen will recommend products for you to use post-treatment to care for your skin. After two or three days your skin will start to peel, and this can continue for 3 to 7 days. During that time any pigmented areas on your skin might look slightly darker as well.

How many peels will I need?

That will depend on the skin problems/concerns to be rectified. On average three to six treatments are required, at a rate of one every three to six weeks. Although improvement is evident after a single peel, for best results a series of treatments is recommended. During your consultation, Karen will discuss a personalised treatment plan with you.
